Staying Motivated in the Pursuit of Wealth

Staying Motivated in the Pursuit of Wealth

Everybody has a goal to be wealthy in his or her life. However, only some are able to achieve this goal in their lifetime as it takes a long a lot of dedication and hard work. Like most people, on my path to becoming wealthy, I have definitely had moments where I have lost my motivation to continue. However, this is completely natural! Sometimes you are stuck in a rut and you need a dramatic push or adversity to get you back onto the pathway to wealth. With this in mind, here are a couple of tips to help you stay focused on the big picture so that you can reach your goals without getting lost on the way.

Why do you Want to Make Money?

Everybody wants to make money; money is the golden ticket to let you do whatever you want when you want to do it. Don’t feel like working a job, if you are financially secure than it gives you the choice of sticking it out or quitting and seeing if there is something out there that interests you more. Making money is probably not want you think of as your end goal, being wealthy is making money but also feeling like you are not tied down to a specific choice because wealth allows you to maintain options when most people are stuck because they can’t afford to quit their day job or take a vacation. Earning money is just a means to an end.

Some people want to make a lot of money so that they can give their families a comfortable life, others just want to make enough money to quit their jobs and follow their dreams so that they can truly be happy. Whatever the reason, you need to make sure that your goal is authentic and realistic to you. By making sure it is something that you truly want and that is possible to achieve, it will be a lot easier to stay motivated because you can actually see yourself achieving it in the near future. I find that it is important to look at the future but to remain in the present. If you want to make a lot of money in the future, you need to put down strong roots now, if you want that big promotion, you need to put in the work now so that it can pay off in the long-term. By making small increment steps, you can constantly keep your goal in mind and by having small victories; you can keep yourself motivated until you reach your goal.

Meditate

Now I was skeptical about meditating because I already feel like I have no time so the thought of just sitting around and taking the time to refresh my mind might seem more like a waste of time. However, studies show that this is actually much more practical than you might realize! Meditation actually have a ton of benefits and it will help give you focus on your current task and will help you develop a strong aversion to stress because you will be able to channel it properly and not let yourself get caught up in the emotions of feeling overwhelmed.

It is well known that if you are stressed about something, it is hard to stay focused and especially to stay motivated. On the other hand, if you are able to focus on what needs to be completed, you will find it much easier to get through your daily schedule and allow your focus to expand to other parts of your life.

Realistic Goals

The fact that you might not be exactly where you were hoping to be at this time in your life does not mean you have not made the right decisions for your financial future. It simply means that you might have put too much pressure on yourself for results without taking the time to see what is realistic. By giving yourself the time to reflect and review on what you are capable of now, you can give yourself some much-needed credit for what you have already accomplished and use this motivation to keep moving forward.

Also, do not forget sometimes its worth more to your future goals to take a break every now and then so that you can achieve more in the long run because taking breaks allow you to regroup and it gives you a moment of pause to assess the situation. Sometimes you might think action A is the most important thing to do right now but after taking a break; you might realize that Action B will bring you more in the long run than Action A could. Take some time to relax and treat yourself and once you have finished your break, come back feeling fully refreshed and ready to tackle the world!

Letting the World Know

Some people, myself included, find that to actually achieve most large goals, its important to have a buddy who can keep you on track. Depending on the goal, I find it helps when you publicly declare what you want to complete / start by a given date to a close family member or friend who than can keep you accountable and on track to complete this activity. I find the best example was when I was still in school writing essays and I would let my friend know that I would have a rough draft completed by the end of the day so that he could review and let me know what I was missing. This gave me exactly one afternoon to sit down and take the time to read and write up my essay rather than procrastinating because I knew that it would feel embarrassing if I let my friend read a terrible essay that I did not spend the time I should have on. I find that this helped me stay motivated and I never had to do an essay at the last-minute.

At the end of the day, everyone is different but I find that if you actually take the time to remember and apply these tips, building wealth can be achieved with the right amount of hard work and dedication.
